Program Information

About AAA Cross Country

Our program welcomes kids in grades 1-5 from Andover, Minnesota  and all surrounding communities.  No equipment is needed except a pair of running/tennis shoes (no spikes).

Kids will compete in Four Sunday afternoon meets (weather permitting) at Anoka High School.  For the 2023 season, tentative meets are scheduled for:

  • September 24th
  • October 1st
  • October 8th
  • October 15th

Meets will begin at appx 2:00pm and last about 1 hour including awards. We will be running the Boys and Girls teams together. Races will still be broken up based on Grade/Distance/Gender.

  • Grade 1-3 Girls & Boys (1 Mile)
  • Grade 4-5 Girls & Boys (1.5 Mile)

Athletes will receive a high-quality performance style AAA Cross Country shirt and compete for ribbons.  The top-8 runners of each gender in each race receive a ribbon based on their place as well as Personal Record ribbons for improvement. Depending on number of 1st grade registrants may give them their own race.

Practice will begin Mid-September.  Schedules will vary somewhat by team and coach.  Practice locations will be determined by coaches and will last approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Interested but concerned about conflicts with other sports? No Problem!  The Cross Country program puts the emphasis on developing distance running and personal achievement.  It also serves as a complimentary sport to other activities.  Team practice attendance is flexible if your athlete is busy running at another sport.
